if you didnt use gay in any negative connotation why did you bring it up? its not like being gay and writing for a teen audience are related.
If ive misunderstood your message say so, but dont throw a little hissy fit.

From Dawson's Creek to gay... hmmm... how did we make this transition... Anyway. Scream is great. I haven't watched Dawson's Creek due to lack of interest. But I have never gotten a Dawson comment, but then again I am not exactly trying to get into film school, or majoring in anything related to film. Just a spare time thing. Does anyone else not get Dawson's Creek comments?

I saw a film clip of Spielberg's first film Amblin (not counting his his high school and jr high projects which came before).
Although I don't know how good the film was, I think he shot it in 35mm, and that may have been the smartest move he made in getting his professional career started.

yeah but he was using it in a negative light, failing to see that the writer of scream is an equaly gay man as they are the same person

Some thoughts...
First off as a film student I can say with authority that Spielberg virtually never ever gets a mention in my class. In fact after two years I've never had a conversation about Spielberg.
In LImerick, girls call me Dawson a lot, because they can't seem to visualise such a career without relating it to something they've seen on TV. Most people I've met have this problem. It's called hyper-reality.
Lastly, I have no real problems with Dawson's creek. I find it hilarious because so many people I know say they hate it, yet they know what happened in a given episode but are AFRAID to admit to liking it in case they get shot down by their peers.
The dialogue is unrealistic, but if I have to choose between eloquence and all this dumbed-down dude where's my car dialogue, I'll take the eloquence. Maybe the teenage muppets might even expand their four-word vocabs.

since this is a dawsons creek thread and dawson loves spielberg i feel like i'm allowed to ask this question here instead of starting a new thread called spielberg which would embaress me.
ANYWAY, you know his first short that he shot on film, amblin'? i was wondering if anyone knew how i could get a copy. i've read stuff by people who have watched it so i know it's out there somewhere but have no idea how they got it. (don't tell me to try ebay) anyway, i'd really like to see it.
another thing, has anyone heard of steven spielberg disease?</font></td></tr></table></td></tr></table></BLOCKQUOTE>
Steven Spielberg disease afflicts film school students. The rumor has it that in any given film school on any given day the name Steven Spielberg will be uttered at least once by someone in any given film school class.

You might get a kick out of this. It's from my forum but it is about Spielberg's first film.

Hey there.
"if you didnt use gay in any negative connotation why did you bring it up?"
You explain it to my why what I said was negative?
He IS gay and it IS written for 14 year old girls... Don't get offended if YOU and all the 18 year old lads you know enjoy it. I'm not saying you can't. Just that you're not it's target audience.
It's about a bunch of 20 somthing actors playing teenagers and spending their days talking about their feelings.
"If ive misunderstood your message say so, but dont throw a little hissy fit."
Erm... I did say so. What is a "hissy fit"????
Just don;t go around saying **** untill you have the facts... I mean,
"and i presume by your statement you also think scream was written by a gay man"
I almost pissed myself.
Despin out.

I like the dialogue. For me great dialogue is not what someone would actually say... but something they wished they had said.
"Define irony: a bunch of idiots dancing around on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash."

the dialogue is unrealistic i agree with skinhead...the only reason tho that ppl call anyone doing film dawson is that its the most recent character on tv that we can compare them to...it is bad that we have to always relate back to tv but hey...i was called willow in schooland im neither gay nor a witch so im completly confused...anyway skinhead is right...tho sometimes slapstick dumbed down comedy is good fun
